It is official! Kickstarter has moved unto the payment vendor Stripe. Amazon Payment was dropped, much to everyone’s surprise. Alas, the drop has thus far been viewed as a good move. Previously Amazon had required business partners (project creators on Kickstarter) to set up new accounts. Today, Stripe will allow setting up without that long wait of several days which the previous had required.

The unfortunate news for our non-American friends though, is that while Amazon Payment was only available to the Americans, the same is true of Stripe. So for Asians who had been praying to jump onto the bandwagon of Kickstarter, it seems the wait could just be that little bit longer still. All things said and done, creators have not had any actual hands-on in Kickstarter with Stripe as of now, and who knows if it will be for the better? Currently as it is, Stripe sure looks ready to make KS a better experience for one and all.

Final Fantasy Bounces Back At Last?

Several years ago, the legendary Final Fantasy began plummeting in its popularity as it churned out several weak titles, eventually pegging its hopes on a series of spin-offs from Lightning – a female protagonist who doesn’t seem to have any love interest at all, getting all the sexual tension from day 1 till the day she becomes overtaken by the next title.

At one point, the same time as Lightning was first announced, there was an alternate universe linked to hers – Final Fantasy 13-Versus. Alas, Square Enix disappointed deeply with its no-show. Just as we all began to think of them as a good memory of the past, Square Enix seems to be coming back at long last with its latest directions. Its only true hit in recent years was Crisis Core, from FF7’s universe. Apparently they realized that real time action seems to be the trend now, as can be proven again by their latest spin-off (yet again) of Lightning’s FF13-2.

Still, where was that royal prince who looked so much like Zack(FF7) who could control ethereal swords and blades? Was he forgotten by them afterall? Guess not, here is some proof: He will be the main dude for FF15. FF13-Versus is now cancelled.

Type-0 is also a game that will fill the gap while they work on FF15 itself, and Type-0 isn’t looking too shabby either. Check it out here: Nice, eh?

Perhaps Square Enix just might relive its glory days yet!

Attention Miniature Fantasy Fans!

Today I have a new trick/ tip for all you miniature fans out there, which includes fans of Warhammer etc! I have discovered something online from someone else, that would make a superb and very cheap terrain for your miniature war gaming needs!

Check out the picture! Ancient ruins eh? Guess what….

Anshul Khatri's motherboard!

Anshul Khatri’s motherboard!

It really is a motherboard, belonging to a genius called Anshul Khatri – One that has been gathering dust for eons! A genuine 3D terrain of ruins if you ask me! If you have any dying computers, keep the mother board and add soil and dirt to it. You’d get this effect! Yet another great tip shared hah~

Useful Advice For Kickstarters

If you are someone like me, who is looking to KS for assistance on your upcoming amazing products that you would so very much wish to share with the world, this post is for you.

There are already tons of useful sites out there with great advice and stuff for KS potentials. But I have something more! In fact, it comes with a whole luggage of laughter. I know this certainly made my day and that’s why I’m here to share it with you. It’s a different angle from what other KS-advising sites do – It’s the opposite! It shows you the DO NOTs of the game.

A genius decided to create a collection of all the extreme failures of KS and post them onto a single collective page. He did not reveal his identity so I cannot credit him. But here is the link:

While it is bad to ‘laugh’ at the failure of others, most (note: NOT ALL OF THEM) of the projects there are blatant money-grubbing folks who have completely NO idea what KS is about and probably just looking to rip money off genuine ‘KS users’ looking to support genuine ‘project creators who need help’.

Fantasy and Reality Blurring Further Everyday

If you haven’t heard of the game Shadow of Mordor, you probably have been the captive slave of some brightly colored teletubbie look-alike orc in the past year. Set in the same world as the famous Lord of the Rings series, this game rides on the popularity of the brand, and abuses it with a delicious stand-alone game overflowing with creativity. Imagine a Jedi knight in the world of LOTR – ya something lidat~

Anyway this post is here to share with you a really epic youtube video made for the game, by live actors. The special effects are simply amazing and I had to rewatch the video from 4:15 to 4:25 at least 20 times before I was satisfied enough to continue the rest of the video! It almost felt like I was the one leaping forward with that epic strike. Oops, shouldn’t reveal too much! Just go take a look, ya? Certainly well worth your time! Today, technology is slowly proving that the line between fantasy and reality is getting fainter by the day. Yes, and the night as well, thank you for adding.

Enuff said’ Here is the link:

Attack On Titan Game

If you are into anime or manga, you should probably have already heard about the great Attack on Titan series. I you haven’t, I can assure you that you are missing out on one of the greatest geek stuff in life. There are many streaming sites that allow you to watch this anime with English subs. For those of you who already know about this anime, stick around anyway. I promise you a great reward at the end. For those who have not heard of it, I shall give a quick brief on what this is all about. The storyline is superb, starting off with introducing the world of Man about to come to an end – strange and huge monstrosities known as Titans have suddenly appeared from under the earth all over the world and started mindlessly killing off humans.

The Titans are all apparently male only, have very low intellect and look just like naked humans, but with ridiculous faces or proportions. They are categorized into several classes, with the weakest being as small as just three times the height of a human, to the elite class which could stand taller than a ten-storey building. Then there is the unique type of Titans, which have special attributes that are outside the norm of the Titans. For example there is a unique Titan that stands taller than fifty storeys! Or a female Titan who displays extreme cunning.

The story revolves around just one city – the last known human stronghold still standing on earth. For a time after Titans appeared, the humans have remained somewhat safe for a hundred years within the gigantic walls they erected around their last stronghold. However, in the very first episode alone, a unique Titan far larger than any previous ones appears and destroys a large portion of the wall, allowing the Titan army to rush in and go on a feeding spree – buffet eat all you can! The humans retreat into their next layer of walls within the city, but their future is looking ever more bleak. Special human squads trained to take on Titans are the highlight of the anime, and are split into three groups. The highest risk and coolest of them all is known as the Survey Corp, units who travel beyond the walls to recce. The anime gets more exciting as the humans reveal their gears used to combat such incredible creatures. They can actually whizz around through the air using gas canisters and steel wires fired from both sides of their hips. At many times of the anime, you will find yourself thinking that this anime is as cool as the spiderman movies, only several times better since there are so many of them instead of just one dude! There is a huge twist from the protagonist early to mid part of the series, which will change everything and hype up the entire anime further. Look forward to it!

Check out this quick youtube clip if you are still not convince to try and find out more about Attack on Titan. (Don’t watch all the way, there are spoilers! Just watch enough to understand if this is your cup of epic tea)

Now that you are hooked, I have good news for you. Those of you AoT veterans who stuck around to the end, or smartly just scrolled right down to here… I have a reward for you – a free AoT game where you can really experience the mechanism of the flying gears and the rush of going up against creatures who kill you in a split second if you ever falter from a slight mistake! All made by a super genius coder known as Feng Lee, and he’s YOUNGER than me!!! Argh! So much achievements put me to shame!

The Leap of Faith

My first post ever on a blog! I have taken the plunge at long last! Knowing I will probably backstep if I think too much about it, I just went ahead and left my day job!

Frightening if you ask me, since I now no longer have a firm income monthly. Worse yet, I still have my 1 year+ daughter to look after (and another daughter due in January!) This almost feels like the Stone Age board game where I am playing from behind the other players and have not enough clan members to rescue the day. With no food left, I had to make a choice of either risking the entire family going hungry but get that awesome Card perk, or send an all-out hunting expedition to salvage my situation. I chose to go for that Card, since the situation would still not be particularly fantastic even if I managed to scrape through with enough food.

So here I am, “Hello, world!” from a brave and perhaps foolish entrepreneur-to-be, now without a job and able to focus full time on my true passion of making games. Yes, board games in particular. Of course, not all is dire. I have already planned this for a long time now, and my flagship board game (yup, lovingly designed by yours truly and play-tested to death by my closest friends) is almost ready to be launched. Fingers crossed now, its all about the wait for the final pieces of artwork to be done.
